october 31 wednesday environmental science

Today is not really a bad day ait all, it was very fun and really awesome due to teh fact that there is only one midterm for today. we do , however, have environmental science midterm. i completely do not know one of the questions answer, adn sinc there are only 9 questions, i revieve an immediate B . this is really aweful since it will drag my a- down to a b . on the plus side, all my major midterms are done, what remains is only french, which is not that scary at all

how important is status?

Status is very important for opportunities such as having good grades will get you into honors class, which in turn will get you higher GPA if chosen to work hard. Statuses are also very important for how people judge you, if u have a low status chances are that people will not want to work with you or talk to you, thus losing more opportunities. Status, like every other thing, are not really important for happiness, everybody remains sad and new concerns emerges whichever status anyone is currently in. no one will ever be truly 100% happy no matter what status they are currently in, to do so is to reach enlightened which seldom people have actually achieved. So in conclusion, status is very important for power hungry and ambitious person, but not really in terms of making people very happy, because greed will cause us to want to move to yet another higher status.

What will happen in 50 years?

I think in 50 years, all our current technology will be very advanced, and continuing our current trend, we will be on iphone 55. medical technology will boom as well, we will have clone where we can replace our brains with when we get too old and our body starts to wither away. i also saw i the news that there can be a train that can be 2 tiems faster than an airplane, and we can reach american from taiwan in two hours. that would be so awesome sicne we cna visit other countre very cinies during the weekeds in the future. you can literally be lik, hey dude! lets go to france today! everything will be very convient and entertaining. in 50 years, most of htc devoloping countries will be developed, and maybe we will even build spaceships and consider colonizing the human race. by the trend of technological increase, anything is possible

that makes us fascinated to the unknown?

 I think that humans gets fascinated by the unknown due to our instincts. Under our instinct, animals have curiosity due to it wanting to find out if the new organism or object to determine if it contains any hostility or it is safe to spend time with it. The same thing goes with humans. When we think about aliens, we would want to get the most information out of it as possible. Note that many people will feel a slight thrill or be frightened by mysterious things. That is also due to instinct as well. A animal will be curious, yet cautious, about a new object or creature showing up in its territory. Take the Bermuda triangle as an example, people have made countless documentaries about the triangle since ships started disappearing in the region, and I can never turn away a documentary like that and always end up watching it and not doing my homework.

What is generation gap

Mother: Steven you got to stop playing that much computer games.

Me: But mother … everyone does it

Mother: why do you always compare yourselves to other people?

              Name here didn’t play computer games (compares me to other people.)

Mother: If you want to play computer games, why don’t you just play it in the Internet café? That way it’ll be less painful if I do not see you play. Just go and burn your future away with playing computer games.

Me: but mother, it’s not like I just play computer games and not study for other subjects.

Mother: But you could have used the time for a much more important purpose like practice your violin. Especially now that you are in high school. If you are finished with your homework why don’t you study ahead? There is so much more things to do other than sitting around the computer and clicking at stuff

Me: cant I just play for awhile? It helps me relax and get rid of the pressure

Mother: YOU CALL SHOOTING PEOPLE WITH GUNS RELAXING!?

Me: yeah

Mother: it is so disgusting, why do you have to play such violent games?

Me: because everyone else does it..
